Columbus Job Centers
City of Columbus, Ohio
This study develops an inventory
and analysis of potential job growth zones for long-range
planning for job creation. Working in team fashion with the
lead consultant, Bay Area Economics, Lincoln Street assisted
in identifying the best sites for economic development and
growth opportunities, and prepared five prototypical redevelopment
plans to demonstrate to position the City of Columbus to compete
for new jobs and economic growth.
The first illustrations shown here
are of the redevelopment plan for a portion of the selected
Third / Fifth / King Redevelopment Area. The site location
near The Ohio State University and Battelle Memorial Institute
allow for the creation of new research labs and offices. New
career lofts and other retail and residential
space make the site a complete development and an attractive
space to potential employers and employees.
The latter illustrations show the
development plan for a portion of the former Hartman Farms
site, which has development restrictions from its location
within the citys Wellfield Protection Zone; much of
the former Hartman Farms sits within the floodplain.
The concept the Bio-Nano Industrial Campus results
from the marriage of valuable, environmentally-sensitive land
with industrial pursuits, research, and support facilities
that require unspoiled locations. The marriage requires respect
for and implementation of state of the art technologies.
