Ruth M. Gless, AIA
Principal
A founding principal
of the firm Lincoln Street Studio in Columbus, Ohio, Ruth
is a project designer experienced in planning and design for
institutional, research, educational, and corporate/commercial
facilities. Among her award-winning projects are the following:
The Business Technology Center and Science Village at the
Ohio State University, Vitreous State Lab at the Catholic
University of America and the Eckles Memorial Library at Mount
Vernon College.
Ruth received her BA from the University
of Nebraska (1969) and her MA in Architecture from the University
of Virginia (1979). For many years, her specialization has
been the design of schools. Formerly a high school teacher,
she has particular expertise in understanding the teaching
philosophies and curriculum issues which drive the functional
program. Ms. Gless was a senior designer for the New Albany
Learning Community which included the master planning and
design of The New Albany High School and the New Albany Elementary
School. Currently she is principal designer for renovation/replacement
projects at The Wellington School, the 4-H Center for OSU,
and the Great Lakes Business Growth and Development Center,
a technology business incubator.
Ruth's participation in the community
has a particular focus on urban planning issues. As a volunteer,
she prompted fellow residents of Italian Village to engage
in their own Master Planning for the future and served on
the steering committee for the process. She is a past member
of the Italian Village Commission, an architectural review
board, and is currently a board member and President of 1000
Friends of Central Ohio and Vice President of the Neighborhood
Design Center.
